COVID-19 Summer 2021 Policies

6/8/2020

Comments

Updated 3/25/2021

For the 2021 camp season Camp Galilee will adhere to the following COVID-19 Procedures.
 ‌

‌Prior‌ ‌to‌ ‌Arrival‌ ‌at‌ ‌Camp‌ ‌
Parents‌ ‌will review‌ ‌the‌ ‌COVID-19‌ ‌Policy‌ ‌and‌ ‌sign‌ ‌a‌ ‌COVID-19‌ ‌Waiver‌ ‌which is in the registration paperwork on CampDoc.‌  ‌

 ‌
During‌ ‌Camp‌ ‌
Upon‌ ‌Arrival/Check-In‌
  1. ‌We‌ ‌will‌ ‌check‌ ‌the‌ ‌temperatures‌ ‌of‌ ‌every‌ ‌staff,‌ ‌camper,‌ ‌and‌ ‌family‌ ‌member‌ ‌who‌ ‌enters‌ ‌camp‌.‌ ‌This‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌done‌ ‌using‌ ‌a‌ ‌non-contact‌ ‌thermometer‌ ‌before‌ ‌leaving‌ ‌any‌ ‌vehicles.‌ ‌Campers‌ ‌will‌ ‌not‌ ‌be‌ ‌able‌ ‌to‌ ‌attend‌ ‌camp‌ ‌if‌ ‌they,‌ ‌or‌ ‌anyone‌ ‌within‌ ‌their‌ ‌vehicle,‌ ‌has‌ ‌a‌ ‌fever.‌ ‌

Dining‌ ‌Hall‌‌
  1. Campers‌ ‌will‌ ‌enter‌ ‌the‌ ‌dining‌ ‌hall‌ ‌with‌ ‌their‌ ‌cabin‌ ‌group.‌ ‌
  2. ‌Everyone‌ ‌will‌ ‌wash‌ ‌their‌ ‌hands‌ ‌as‌ ‌they‌ ‌enter‌ ‌the‌ ‌dining‌ ‌hall.‌ ‌
  3. ‌Cabin‌ ‌groups‌ ‌will‌ ‌sit‌ ‌together‌ ‌during‌ ‌meals.‌ ‌
  4. All‌ ‌table‌ ‌utensils‌ ‌and‌ ‌food‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌distributed‌ ‌to‌ ‌campers‌ ‌by‌ ‌counselors.‌ ‌ ‌
  5. ‌All‌ ‌tables,‌ ‌counters,‌ ‌and‌ ‌regularly‌ ‌touched‌ ‌surfaces‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌disinfected‌ ‌after‌ ‌every‌ ‌meal.‌ ‌
  6. ‌Bathrooms‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌dining‌ ‌hall‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌cleaned‌ frequently.‌

Health‌ ‌Lodge‌‌
 ‌While‌ ‌camp‌ ‌offers‌ ‌a‌ ‌well‌ ‌equipped‌ ‌and‌ ‌modern‌ ‌health‌ ‌lodge‌ ‌with‌ ‌multiple‌ ‌rooms‌ ‌for‌ ‌isolating‌ ‌sick‌ ‌
campers,‌ ‌camp‌ ‌is‌ ‌not‌ ‌prepared‌ ‌to‌ ‌house‌ ‌campers‌ ‌or‌ ‌staff‌ ‌who‌ ‌show‌ ‌symptoms‌ ‌of‌ ‌COVID-19.‌ ‌Therefore,‌ ‌

 ‌
  1. The‌ ‌Health‌ ‌Lodge‌ ‌team‌ ‌will‌ ‌take‌ ‌the‌ ‌temperature‌ ‌of‌ ‌everyone‌ ‌who‌ ‌enters‌ ‌the‌ ‌lodge.‌ ‌
  2. ‌Anyone‌ ‌with‌ ‌a‌ ‌fever‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌asked‌ ‌to‌ ‌wear‌ ‌a‌ ‌face‌ ‌mask,‌ ‌given‌ ‌a‌ ‌cool‌ ‌drink,‌ ‌moved‌ ‌into‌ ‌a‌ ‌private‌ ‌room,‌ ‌given‌ ‌time‌ ‌to‌ ‌lay‌ ‌down,‌ ‌cool‌ ‌off‌ ‌and‌ ‌rest,‌ ‌in‌ ‌order‌ ‌to‌ ‌determine‌ ‌if‌ ‌the‌ ‌fever‌ ‌could‌ ‌have‌ ‌occurred‌ ‌for‌ ‌reasons‌ ‌other‌ ‌than‌ ‌illness‌ ‌(e.g.‌ ‌outside‌ ‌heat‌ ‌or‌ ‌exercise).‌ ‌If,‌ ‌after‌ ‌re-evaluation,‌ ‌the‌ ‌fever‌ ‌is‌ ‌still‌ ‌present,‌ ‌and‌ ‌we‌ ‌don’t‌ ‌have‌ ‌the‌ ‌ability‌ ‌to‌ ‌rule‌ ‌out‌ ‌COVID-19‌ ‌that‌ ‌individual‌ ‌will‌ ‌need‌ ‌to‌ ‌be‌ ‌picked‌ ‌up‌ ‌by‌ ‌a‌ ‌parent/guardian.‌ ‌
  3. ‌The‌ ‌Health‌ ‌Lodge‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌disinfected‌ ‌on‌ ‌a‌ ‌continual‌ ‌basis.‌ ‌

Cabins‌
  1. ‌All‌ ‌commonly‌ ‌touched‌ ‌surfaces‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ kept sanitized.‌ ‌
  2. ‌Disinfectants‌/Sanitizers ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌available‌ ‌in‌ ‌every‌ ‌cabin.‌ ‌
  3. ‌Windows‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌open‌ ‌as‌ ‌much‌ ‌as‌ ‌possible‌ ‌to‌ ‌encourage‌ ‌airflow.‌ ‌

Bath‌ ‌Houses‌‌
  1. ‌Campers‌ ‌will‌ ‌follow‌ ‌a‌ ‌nightly,‌ ‌shower‌ ‌schedule‌ ‌and‌ ‌will‌ ‌only‌ ‌shower‌ ‌when‌ ‌their‌ ‌cabin‌ ‌is‌ ‌showering.‌
  2. ‌Bathrooms‌ ‌and‌ ‌showers‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌disinfected‌.‌ ‌
  3. ‌Disinfectants‌/Sanitizers ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌available‌ ‌in‌ ‌every‌ ‌bathhouse.‌ ‌

Camp-wide‌ ‌Sanitation‌‌
  1. ‌Camp‌ ‌staff‌ ‌will‌ ‌have‌ ‌continual‌ ‌access‌ ‌to‌ ‌cleaning‌ ‌and‌ ‌disinfecting‌ ‌supplies‌ ‌at‌ ‌all‌ ‌times,‌ ‌and‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌available‌ ‌at‌ ‌multiple‌ ‌locations.‌ ‌
  2. ‌Tables,‌ ‌shared‌ ‌surfaces,‌ ‌and‌ ‌all‌ ‌commonly‌ ‌used‌ ‌areas‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌disinfected‌.‌ ‌
 ‌
Parent‌ ‌Notification‌
  1. Parents‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌notified‌‌ ‌if‌ ‌their‌ ‌child‌ ‌develops‌ ‌an‌ ‌unexplained‌ ‌fever‌ ‌or‌ ‌COVID-like‌ ‌symptoms.‌ ‌ ‌
  2. ‌Parents‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌notified‌ ‌on‌ ‌camp‌ ‌departure‌ ‌day‌ ‌if‌ ‌anyone‌ ‌at‌ ‌camp‌ ‌left‌ ‌early‌ ‌due‌ ‌to‌ ‌illness.‌ ‌

Summer 2020 Changes

4/27/2020

Comments

Dear Galilee Family, Friends, and Supporters,

The last few weeks have been difficult for everyone. We have all tried to maneuver the difficulties of COVID-19 as it has affected each of us in very unique ways that we never expected. In these difficulties, you have all been in our thoughts and prayers as we have considered what the next few weeks and months might look like for us all.

2020 Summer Camps
We have made the difficult decision to either postpone or cancel our June camps for the health and safety of our many campers and their families, our volunteers, and our summer staff. As this is an ever-changing situation, we may need to make adjustments to this schedule again as camps get closer, but our hope is to have all of our camps scheduled in July. Below is a copy of our updated camping schedule for this year.

CANCELED: ABLE Camp & Tikes Camp
JULY 6-11: Elementary 2, Jr. High 1, Jr. High Track & Field
JULY 13-18: PAC, Jr. High 2, Sr. High
JULY 20-23: Elementary 1 (Half Week)
July 20-25: Sr. High Track & Field

This has not been an easy decision for us. We know this might make some significant changes for your summer as well. For our families who have already registered and/or paid camp tuitions, we will work with you to change camps if possible or issue a refund.

Prayers
We do ask that each of you keep us in your prayers over the next few weeks.
  • Pray for our campers. Pray that God will prepare their hearts for what He wants to do in them either at camp or at home.
  • Pray that camp will be able to happen.
  • Pray for our event directors. Pray for wisdom and guidance as they prepare each day of their camps.
  • Pray for our staff and volunteers. Pray that God will lead hearts to serve here throughout this summer and that He will prepare their hearts for the campers they will be serving.
We know this is a difficult time for you all, and we will continue to keep you in our prayers. We look forward to seeing you in July!

By His Grace,
Emily Hodge

Camp Galilee's Response to COVID-19

3/20/2020

Comments

Dear Camp Galilee Family, Friends, and Supporters,

As a camp community, our top priority is the safety of campers, as well as that of staff and volunteers. We recognize that many of you have concerns about the well-being of your families as well as how to plan for the weeks to come. In light of these concerns, we have been closely monitoring updates about the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, including CDC guidelines, health department notices, and recommendations issued by the American Camp Association.
At this time, Camp Galilee programs for summer 2020 are scheduled to operate as planned. However, camp plans are subject to change based on national and regional recommendations and policies. In light of this reality, we will make every effort to keep you informed about any significant updates regarding our camps via email, social media, as well as on our website at campatgalilee.org. If you would like to be added to our email list, feel free to send us a message with your email information.
In all of the uncertainty which everyone is facing, we ask that you pray often. Pray for your communities, leaders, churches, and camp. Pray that despite the uncertainty we are all facing in the weeks to come, that we continue to put our trust in Christ and rely on Him for our strength.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us by emailing [email protected] or by calling our office at (417) 876-7490. We are looking forward to a safe, healthy, and Christ-centered summer! In the mean time, we wish you many days in the outdoors to enjoy this wonderful Creation. :)
By His Grace,
Emily Hodge

In light of the current circumstances, we have been reevaluating our upcoming spring events.
