FAQ

How do we send medications with our campers?
Medications need to be checked in with camp staff upon arrival. Place medications in a plastic bag along with instructions on an index card. All medications must be in the original container.
What Should my child pack for camp?
This is one of the top questions asked by our parents and for good reason! They want their child to enjoy camp to its fullest by equipping them properly for a week (or half week) away from home. Below is our current list of items to bring and not bring to camp.

Bring
  • Seven changes of camp appropriate clothing
  • Old clothes for mud pit
  • 2-3 pairs of jeans (only for horse campers that prefer to ride with pants)
  • Swim suit (must be a one piece or completely cover your child's belly)
  • Extra socks and underwear
  • One beach towel
  • One or two bath towels
  • Bedding for an extra long twin mattress
  • One or two pairs of close toe shoes
  • Flip flops for shower times
  • Soap and toiletries (we recommend a caddy or holder to keep toiletries together)
  • Tooth brush and tooth paste
  • Bible
  • Flashlight
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Sunglasses or hat

Do Not Bring
  • Alcohol, drug, or tobacco products
  • Food
  • Cell phones or other electronic devices (including cameras)
  • Weapons or knives of any kind
  • Fireworks
What are the dinner themes for this year?
At Galilee we like to have fun at mealtime! Our dinner schedule will be as follows for the summer of 2019. Pack some fun outfits for your child if they desire to dress festively!
  • Maui Monday (Hawaiian Attire)
  • Taco Tuesday (Festive Mexican Attire)
  • Western Wednesday (Cowboy and Cowgirl Attire)
  • Tuscany Thursday (Italian Attire)
  • Freedom Friday (Americana Attire)
Is there medical staff available on site?
Each week a volunteer Registered Nurse is stationed in the Nurse's Cabin for campers. The volunteer nurse is equipped with a database of medication information for each camper to ensure the correct dosage is administered at the appropriate times throughout the camp week. Camp Galilee Summer Staffers also are extensively trained in camper safety.
How can I contact my camper while they are at galilee?
As a camp, we discourage the use of camper cell phones. Please do not send a personal cell phone to camp with your camper. Instead, we ask you contact our director Katrina directly at (417.876.7490 or director@campatgalilee.org) if you have a pressing issue. Camper mail is highly encouraged as the main form of communication. Campers LOVE getting mail and packages. Plus, when they receive mail or a package they have to sing the age-old Galilee favorite, Grey Squirrel. Now who doesn't love to do that?
In the event of bad weather how will I know my child is safe?
Typically, we do see a few bad thunderstorms and extreme hot weather a few times during the camping season. In the event of a weather emergency Camp Galilee will post to our social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), plus email and text parents an update.
Can i make monthly payments on my child's camp fee?
Yes! You can do this through CampDoc when you register your child for camp.
