COVID-19 Summer 2020 Policies
Updated 6/8/2020

After‌ ‌reviewing‌ ‌recommendations‌ ‌from‌ ‌the‌ ‌State‌ ‌of‌ ‌Missouri,‌ ‌ACA,‌ ‌and‌ ‌collaborating‌ ‌with‌ ‌our‌ ‌camp‌ ‌
directors‌ ‌and‌ ‌local‌ ‌health‌ ‌department,‌ ‌Camp‌ ‌Galilee‌ ‌has‌ ‌developed‌ ‌a‌ ‌plan‌ ‌for‌ ‌responding‌ ‌to‌ ‌COVID-19.‌ ‌
This‌ ‌plan‌ ‌is‌ ‌subject‌ ‌to‌ ‌change‌ ‌as‌ ‌we‌ ‌learn‌ ‌more‌ ‌information‌ ‌about‌ ‌COVID-19‌ ‌and‌ ‌receive‌ ‌more‌ ‌guidance‌ ‌
from‌ ‌other‌ ‌professionals.‌ ‌
 ‌
We‌ ‌have‌ ‌broken‌ ‌down‌ ‌our‌ ‌policies‌ ‌into‌ ‌Pre-arrival‌ ‌and‌ ‌at‌ ‌Camp.‌ ‌Our‌ ‌COVID-19‌ ‌waiver‌ ‌outlines‌ ‌what‌ ‌we‌ ‌
expect‌ ‌families‌ ‌to‌ ‌understand‌ ‌and‌ ‌acknowledge‌ ‌prior‌ ‌to‌ ‌their‌ ‌child’s‌ ‌attendance‌ ‌at‌ ‌Galilee‌ ‌for‌ ‌the‌ ‌summer‌ ‌
of‌ ‌2020.‌ ‌

 ‌
 ‌Prior‌ ‌to‌ ‌Arrival‌ ‌at‌ ‌Camp‌ ‌
 ‌
  1. Parents‌ ‌are‌ ‌asked‌ ‌to‌ ‌review‌ ‌this‌ ‌COVID-19‌ ‌Policy‌ ‌and‌ ‌to‌ ‌sign‌ ‌a‌ ‌COVID-19‌ ‌Waiver‌ ‌prior‌ ‌to‌ ‌their‌ ‌child’s‌ ‌arrival‌ ‌at‌ ‌camp‌ ‌(see‌ ‌last‌ ‌page).‌ ‌The‌ ‌waiver‌ ‌has‌ ‌been‌ ‌added‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌required‌ ‌paperwork‌ ‌section‌ ‌online.‌ ‌
  2. It‌ ‌is‌ ‌advised‌ ‌that‌ ‌campers‌ ‌with‌ ‌underlying‌ ‌health‌ ‌issues‌ ‌and‌ ‌at‌ ‌greater‌ ‌risk‌ ‌of‌ ‌complications‌ ‌due‌ ‌to‌ ‌COVID-19‌ ‌must‌ ‌obtain‌ ‌a‌ ‌letter‌ ‌from‌ ‌their‌ ‌physician‌ ‌giving‌ ‌approval‌ ‌for‌ ‌camp‌ ‌attendance.‌ ‌
  3. ‌Campers‌ ‌with‌ ‌Allergies:‌ ‌Because‌ ‌allergy‌ ‌systems‌ ‌may‌ ‌be‌ ‌confused‌ ‌for‌ ‌COVID-19‌ ‌symptoms,‌ ‌you‌ ‌are‌ ‌advised‌ ‌to‌ ‌consider‌ ‌taking‌ ‌an‌ ‌over‌ ‌the‌ ‌counter‌ ‌allergy‌ ‌medication‌ ‌beginning‌ ‌one‌ ‌week‌ ‌prior‌ ‌to‌ ‌their‌ ‌arrival‌ ‌at‌ ‌camp‌ ‌and‌ ‌continuing‌ ‌through‌ ‌the‌ ‌end‌ ‌of‌ ‌their‌ ‌session.‌ ‌Please‌ ‌note‌ ‌that‌ ‌this‌ ‌should‌ ‌be‌ ‌reviewed‌ ‌with‌ ‌your‌ ‌family‌ ‌physician‌ ‌and‌ ‌any‌ ‌allergy‌ ‌medication‌ ‌should‌ ‌be‌ ‌added‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌list‌ ‌of‌ ‌medications‌ ‌online.‌ ‌
 ‌
Please‌ ‌Note:‌ ‌
*‌ ‌All‌ ‌staff‌ ‌will‌ ‌have‌ ‌agreed‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌same‌ ‌Pre-camp‌ ‌requirements‌ ‌as‌ ‌our‌ ‌families.‌ ‌
*‌ ‌During‌ ‌staff‌ ‌training‌ ‌our‌ ‌summer‌ ‌staff‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌learning‌ ‌and‌ ‌practicing‌ ‌the‌ ‌same‌ ‌physical‌ ‌distancing‌ ‌and‌ ‌sanitation‌ ‌techniques‌ ‌that‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌utilized‌ ‌during‌ ‌every‌ ‌camp‌ ‌session.‌ ‌
 ‌ ‌
During‌ ‌Camp‌ ‌

Upon‌ ‌Arrival/Check-In‌ ‌

  1. ‌We‌ ‌will‌ ‌check‌ ‌the‌ ‌temperatures‌ ‌of‌ ‌every‌ ‌staff,‌ ‌camper,‌ ‌and‌ ‌family‌ ‌member‌ ‌who‌ ‌enters‌ ‌camp‌ ‌on‌ ‌both‌ ‌check-in‌ ‌and‌ ‌check-out‌ ‌days.‌ ‌This‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌done‌ ‌using‌ ‌a‌ ‌non-contact‌ ‌thermometer‌ ‌before‌ ‌leaving‌ ‌any‌ ‌vehicles.‌ ‌Campers‌ ‌will‌ ‌not‌ ‌be‌ ‌able‌ ‌to‌ ‌attend‌ ‌camp‌ ‌if‌ ‌they,‌ ‌or‌ ‌anyone‌ ‌within‌ ‌their‌ ‌vehicle,‌ ‌has‌ ‌a‌ ‌fever.‌ ‌
  2. ‌We‌ ‌are‌ ‌expecting‌ ‌the‌ ‌check-in‌ ‌process‌ ‌to‌ ‌be‌ ‌very‌ ‌similar‌ ‌to‌ ‌past‌ ‌years.‌ ‌However,‌ ‌we‌ ‌are‌ ‌asking‌ ‌everyone‌ ‌to‌ ‌maintain‌ ‌physical‌ ‌distancing‌ ‌between‌ ‌families‌ ‌during‌ ‌the‌ ‌check-in‌ ‌process.‌ ‌Physical‌ ‌distancing‌ ‌between‌ ‌campers‌ ‌on‌ ‌check-in‌ ‌and‌ ‌check-out‌ ‌day‌ ‌is‌ ‌at‌ ‌the‌ ‌discretion‌ ‌of‌ ‌each‌ ‌camper’s‌ ‌parent(s).‌ ‌ ‌
  3. ‌Prior‌ ‌to‌ ‌entering‌ ‌a‌ ‌cabin,‌ ‌camper‌ ‌luggage‌ ‌and‌ ‌belongings‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌sanitized.‌ ‌
  4. ‌If‌ ‌a‌ ‌family‌ ‌member‌ ‌chooses‌ ‌to‌ ‌enter‌ ‌their‌ ‌child’s‌ ‌cabin,‌ ‌they‌ ‌must‌ ‌wear‌ ‌a‌ ‌mask‌ ‌or‌ ‌face-covering‌ ‌and‌ ‌maintain‌ ‌physical‌ ‌distance‌ ‌from‌ ‌all‌ ‌non-family‌ ‌members.‌ ‌ ‌
 ‌
 ‌
Physical‌ ‌Distancing‌ ‌
 ‌
Taking‌ ‌into‌ ‌consideration‌ ‌the‌ ‌spontaneous‌ ‌nature‌ ‌of‌ ‌campers,‌ ‌the‌ ‌physical‌ ‌spaces‌ ‌at‌ ‌camp,‌ ‌and‌ ‌specific‌ ‌
activity‌ ‌requirements,‌ ‌we‌ ‌don’t‌ ‌believe‌ ‌that‌ ‌social‌ ‌distancing,‌ ‌as‌ ‌we‌ ‌have‌ ‌come‌ ‌to‌ ‌know‌ ‌it‌ ‌in‌ ‌America,‌ ‌is‌ ‌
possible‌ ‌at‌ ‌camp.‌ ‌However,‌ ‌we‌ ‌are‌ ‌prepared‌ ‌to‌ ‌encourage,‌ ‌teach,‌ ‌and‌ ‌ensure‌ ‌greater‌ ‌physical‌ ‌distancing‌ ‌
whenever‌ ‌it‌ ‌is‌ ‌appropriate.‌ ‌

 ‌
  1. ‌Camp‌ ‌will‌ ‌limit‌ ‌the‌ ‌number‌ ‌of‌ ‌campers‌ ‌in‌ ‌each‌ ‌cabin.‌ ‌
  2. ‌Campers‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌encouraged‌ ‌to‌ ‌keep‌ ‌6-feet‌ ‌between‌ ‌themselves‌ ‌and‌ ‌all‌ ‌campers,‌ ‌counselors,‌ ‌and‌ ‌staff‌ ‌who‌ ‌do‌ ‌NOT‌ ‌live‌ ‌in‌ ‌their‌ ‌cabin.‌ ‌
  3. ‌Chairs‌ ‌within‌ ‌the‌ ‌dining‌ ‌hall‌ ‌and‌ ‌at‌ ‌activity‌ ‌locations‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌arranged‌ ‌to‌ ‌provide‌ ‌greater‌ ‌space‌ ‌between‌ ‌people.‌ ‌
  4. ‌Evening‌ ‌activities‌ ‌and‌ ‌other‌ ‌large‌ ‌group‌ ‌activities‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌modified‌ ‌to‌ ‌provide‌ ‌more‌ ‌distancing‌ ‌between‌ ‌campers.‌ ‌
  5. ‌Please‌ ‌note,‌ ‌there‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌times‌ ‌when‌ ‌campers‌ ‌just‌ ‌need‌ ‌to‌ ‌give‌ ‌a‌ ‌pat‌ ‌on‌ ‌the‌ ‌back,‌ ‌a‌ ‌high‌ ‌five,‌ ‌or‌ ‌a‌ ‌congratulatory‌ ‌hug.‌ ‌
 ‌

Face‌ ‌Masks‌ ‌
 ‌
During‌ ‌activities‌ ‌that‌ ‌don’t‌ ‌allow‌ ‌for‌ ‌greater‌ ‌physical‌ ‌distance‌ ‌between‌ ‌campers‌ ‌and‌ ‌staff,‌ ‌everyone‌ ‌will‌ ‌
be‌ ‌asked‌ ‌to‌ ‌wear‌ ‌a‌ ‌covering‌ ‌over‌ ‌their‌ ‌nose‌ ‌and‌ ‌mouth.‌ ‌

 ‌
  1. Camp‌ ‌will‌ ‌provide‌ ‌two‌ ‌bandannas ‌to‌ ‌each‌ ‌camper.‌ ‌Campers‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌taught‌ ‌how‌ ‌to‌ ‌fashion‌ ‌these‌ ‌bandannas ‌into‌ ‌DIY‌ ‌face‌ ‌coverings‌ ‌that‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌laundered‌ ‌daily.‌ ‌
  2. ‌Campers‌ ‌are‌ ‌welcome‌ ‌to‌ ‌bring‌ ‌their‌ ‌own‌ ‌face‌ ‌mask‌ ‌from‌ ‌home.‌
  3. ‌All‌ ‌campers,‌ ‌counselors,‌ ‌and‌ ‌staff‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌expected‌ ‌to‌ ‌wear‌ ‌a‌ ‌face‌ ‌covering‌ ‌during‌ ‌all‌ ‌up-close‌ ‌interactions‌ ‌with‌ ‌anyone‌ ‌who‌ ‌doesn’t‌ ‌live‌ ‌in‌ ‌their‌ ‌cabin.‌ ‌
 ‌

 ‌Dining‌ ‌Hall‌ ‌
 ‌
  1. Campers‌ ‌will‌ ‌enter‌ ‌the‌ ‌dining‌ ‌hall‌ ‌with‌ ‌their‌ ‌cabin‌ ‌group.‌ ‌
  2. ‌Everyone‌ ‌will‌ ‌wash‌ ‌their‌ ‌hands‌ ‌as‌ ‌they‌ ‌enter‌ ‌the‌ ‌dining‌ ‌hall.‌ ‌
  3. ‌Cabin‌ ‌groups‌ ‌will‌ ‌sit‌ ‌together‌ ‌during‌ ‌meals.‌ ‌
  4. All‌ ‌table‌ ‌utensils‌ ‌and‌ ‌food‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌distributed‌ ‌to‌ ‌campers‌ ‌by‌ ‌counselors.‌ ‌ ‌
  5. Table‌ ‌games‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌modified‌ ‌to‌ ‌practice‌ ‌social‌ ‌distancing‌ ‌as‌ ‌much‌ ‌as‌ ‌possible.‌ ‌
  6. ‌A‌ ‌barrier‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌present‌ ‌between‌ ‌campers‌ ‌and‌ ‌the‌ ‌food‌ ‌serving‌ ‌area.‌ ‌
  7. ‌All‌ ‌tables,‌ ‌counters,‌ ‌and‌ ‌regularly‌ ‌touched‌ ‌surfaces‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌disinfected‌ ‌after‌ ‌every‌ ‌meal.‌ ‌
  8. ‌Bathrooms‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌dining‌ ‌hall‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌cleaned‌ ‌after‌ ‌every‌ ‌meal‌ ‌shift.‌ ‌
 ‌

 ‌Health‌ ‌Lodge‌ ‌
 ‌
While‌ ‌camp‌ ‌offers‌ ‌a‌ ‌well‌ ‌equipped‌ ‌and‌ ‌modern‌ ‌health‌ ‌lodge‌ ‌with‌ ‌multiple‌ ‌rooms‌ ‌for‌ ‌isolating‌ ‌sick‌ ‌
campers,‌ ‌camp‌ ‌is‌ ‌not‌ ‌prepared‌ ‌to‌ ‌house‌ ‌campers‌ ‌or‌ ‌staff‌ ‌who‌ ‌show‌ ‌symptoms‌ ‌of‌ ‌COVID-19.‌ ‌Therefore,‌ ‌

 ‌
  1. The‌ ‌Health‌ ‌Lodge‌ ‌team‌ ‌will‌ ‌take‌ ‌the‌ ‌temperature‌ ‌of‌ ‌everyone‌ ‌who‌ ‌enters‌ ‌the‌ ‌lodge.‌ ‌
  2. ‌Anyone‌ ‌with‌ ‌a‌ ‌fever‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌asked‌ ‌to‌ ‌wear‌ ‌a‌ ‌face‌ ‌mask,‌ ‌given‌ ‌a‌ ‌cool‌ ‌drink,‌ ‌moved‌ ‌into‌ ‌a‌ ‌private‌ ‌room,‌ ‌given‌ ‌time‌ ‌to‌ ‌lay‌ ‌down,‌ ‌cool‌ ‌off‌ ‌and‌ ‌rest,‌ ‌in‌ ‌order‌ ‌to‌ ‌determine‌ ‌if‌ ‌the‌ ‌fever‌ ‌could‌ ‌have‌ ‌occurred‌ ‌for‌ ‌reasons‌ ‌other‌ ‌than‌ ‌illness‌ ‌(e.g.‌ ‌outside‌ ‌heat‌ ‌or‌ ‌exercise).‌ ‌If,‌ ‌after‌ ‌re-evaluation,‌ ‌the‌ ‌fever‌ ‌is‌ ‌still‌ ‌present,‌ ‌and‌ ‌we‌ ‌don’t‌ ‌have‌ ‌the‌ ‌ability‌ ‌to‌ ‌rule‌ ‌out‌ ‌COVID-19‌ ‌that‌ ‌individual‌ ‌will‌ ‌need‌ ‌to‌ ‌be‌ ‌picked‌ ‌up‌ ‌by‌ ‌a‌ ‌parent/guardian.‌ ‌
  3. ‌The‌ ‌Health‌ ‌Lodge‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌disinfected‌ ‌on‌ ‌a‌ ‌continual‌ ‌basis.‌ ‌
 ‌

 ‌Cabins‌ ‌

  3. ‌Disinfectants‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌available‌ ‌in‌ ‌every‌ ‌cabin.‌ ‌
  4. ‌Windows‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌open‌ ‌as‌ ‌much‌ ‌as‌ ‌possible‌ ‌to‌ ‌encourage‌ ‌airflow.‌ ‌
 ‌

 Bath‌ ‌Houses‌ ‌
 ‌
  1. ‌Campers‌ ‌will‌ ‌follow‌ ‌a‌ ‌nightly,‌ ‌shower‌ ‌schedule‌ ‌and‌ ‌will‌ ‌only‌ ‌shower‌ ‌when‌ ‌their‌ ‌cabin‌ ‌is‌ ‌showering.‌
  2. ‌Bathrooms‌ ‌and‌ ‌showers‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌disinfected‌ ‌multiple‌ ‌times‌ ‌per‌ ‌day.‌ ‌
